Identity Theft

According to an article posted to The Washington Post, some woman got her identity stolen. The women made many mistakes in handling her credit and debit cards. The mistake she kept making was using her debit card for all purchases. She figure why spend money that i don’t have, when i could spend my own money using my bank account. Not smart.

ID theft is very common these days because people do not take careful measures when handling credit and or debit cards. It is also very easy to get personal information on someone, anyone can do it. Never give out personal information to anyone online, someone can access it.

In order to steal a person’s identity you would have to steal their address, phone number, age, height, credit card number, and social security number. These documents could be easy to find and access if someone was not smart and gave out their personal information to complete strangers.

If I would have to suggest some ideas about how to protect yourself from identity theft I would suggest not carrying anything in your purse/wallet that has your social security card on it. I would also say not to throw away any important documents, always shred them. Never give out personal information over the phone to anyone you don’t know. Check your credit report annually.

I would say that the person who stole the identity is to blame because it is breaking the law. The person who got their identity stolen is also to blame for being in careful and letting their information get out.
